Rich and Zach Stevenson (Father and Son) lead a podcast called “Join Me in the Ruins.” They have been in ministry for a combined total of over 65 years.
Rich and Zach care deeply for those who feel the need to deconstruct their faith because of questions, brokenness or injustice. They also want to encourage leaders in the church to lead with humble hearts and provide space for honest conversation. The truth is, it is sometimes essential to deconstruct. Jesus did it when he said “You’ve heard that it was said…but I say to you… .”
Using a book by E. Stanley Jones called “The Reconstruction of the Church – On What Pattern?” as an anchor, they hope to share from the heart and help to make the Church better.
In the 2nd chapter of Nehemiah, he mounts a horse alone at night and surveys the ruins of Jerusalem:
17 Then I said to them, “You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace.”
Join Me in the Ruins is subtitled a RE · CON · STRUCT Podcast…take that word apart and you get: AGAIN · TOGETHER · BUILD.
