Join Me in the Ruins

By Rich Stevenson

I stand among the ruins

Questions loom, what is real?

Trust is broken, vision shattered

I don’t know what to feel

My walls are deconstructed

The foundation’s standing still

I’m looking for some comrades

I think I’m ready to rebuild

Change is fast and culture’s winning

One nation under God is past

We’re told our hope is in our vote

The next one’s like the last

Money rules, families battered

Anger lives and people hate

Leaders fall, churches battle

Can we rally for goodness sake?

Bridge: I want my life to count

Lost a lot, but not my will

Join me in the ruins

Again… together…build (Repeat)

I see a Church for disillusioned

They’ve seen glitter isn’t gold

Where truth hurts, people matter

And lost sheep get to the fold

Let’s tear down pulpit pedestals

It’s a priesthood for all who believe

Together stand against all evil

And practice what we preach

Our King is not distracted

He’s not wringing royal hands

We see His Day approaching

Nothing can stop His perfect plan

I know the clock is ticking

But our time is in control

His Bride will shine with radiance

Let’s see His truth be told

Bridge:  I want my life to count

Lost a lot, but not my will

Join me in the ruins

Again… together…build (Repeat)
